About Matthew May

Matt graduated magna cum laude from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, University of Memphis and was in the top 10% of his class. While in law school, Matt served as Production Manager for the Tennessee Journal of Practice and Procedure and was a Law School Student Ambassador and Orientation Leader. He was the 2006 Commencement Chairman for the Student Bar Association and served as President for the Christian Legal Society. During his final year of law school, Matt was chosen to serve as a student member in the Leo Bearman Sr. American Inn of Court. In addition to his extensive activities, Matt was recognized with several awards including Who’s Who Among Students, a Dean’s Distinguished Service Award, and the Robert and Elaine Hoffman Memorial Fellowship. Matt has worked as a law clerk for several Memphis and Jackson, Tennessee law firms. Matt was also chosen for an Externship with the Honorable Judge Jon Phipps McCalla of the U. S. District Court, Western District of Tennessee. In addition to his legal career, Matt enjoys performing in area venues and churches on the trombone. Since 2007, Matt has performed with the Germantown Symphony Orchestra as principal trombone player. He has been a member of The New Memphis Hepcats Swing Band for almost 10 years. Matt also coaches the Briarcrest High School Mock Trial Team. He is a board member of the University of Memphis Band Alumni Chapter and regularly volunteers with a local soup kitchen.
